The Foreign Ministry spokesman called on European leaders to correctly relate to Ukraine's contribution to the victory over Nazism. Tikhy recalled that in the Second World War, from 8 to 10 million Ukrainians died.
Foreign Ministry spokesman George Tihy responded to the intention of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to attend the Victory Day Parade on May 9 in Moscow, noting that European leaders should correctly relate to Ukraine's participation and contribution to the victory over Nazism in World War II.
This was stated by Tihy during a briefing, reports UNN.
Details
We can recall that by its aggression against Ukraine, the Kremlin trampled on the memory of the Second World War, the joint struggle against Nazism in World War II, and lost its moral right to sue the legacy of the victory over Nazism in general. This is a fact worth realizing. In addition, it is worth recalling that Ukraine took an active part in the fight against Nazism, and its merits in this victory cannot be downplayed. Russia has been trying for many years to steal and monopolize this victory, and this is an insult to millions of Ukrainians and hundreds of thousands of families who lost their loved ones in this terrible war
He called on all European partners to recall the facts that between 8 and 10 million Ukrainians died in World War II, that is, almost a quarter of the then population of Ukraine, and in 1944 every third soldier of the Red Army was a native of Ukraine.
Therefore, we have a question: What is this celebration only in Moscow and ignoring the role of Ukraine in World War II in general? Maybe before Moscow, you should go to Kherson, Zaporozhye, Kharkiv, Kiev in those cities where the fronts of the Second World War swept first from West to East, the front swept, and then from East to West? What kind of monopolism is this in order to win the Second World War? Therefore, we simply remind you of these facts and ask you to correctly relate to the participation and contribution of Ukraine to the victory over Nazism
addition
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he had accepted the invitation of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to come to Moscow for the May 9 parade, noting that "the Slovak government is appreciatively reporting on the legacy of the struggle against fascism, the historical truth about World War II and the role that the Red Army plays in it, and that is why in 2025 it will take over the organization of several events, culminating in the May celebrations of the victory over fascism.
