According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the Chinese and Russian military aircraft did not violate South Korea's airspace. At the same time, it is noted that they were detected before entering the air defense zone.
The South Korean military scrambled Air Force fighter jets to prepare for possible emergencies.
The Air Defense Identification Zone is not territorial airspace but is established to require foreign aircraft to identify themselves and prevent accidental incidents.
It is noted that the brief entry likely occurred during joint air exercises between the two countries, a JCS official said.
