New Ukrainian Ambassador to China: what is known about Oleksandr Nechytailo

The President of Ukraine has appointed Oleksandr Nechytailo, former Ambassador to Malaysia, as Ambassador to China. He has extensive experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and speaks Chinese.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has signed a decree appointing the former Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia, the Director of the Fourth Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleksandr Nechytailo, as the Ambassador of Ukraine to China. This is stated in Zelenskyy's decree No. 217/2025, reports UNN.

Reference
Oleksandr Nechytailo was born in 1973 in Kyiv. In 1995, he graduated from Kyiv National University. T. Shevchenko, majoring in philology (teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, Chinese language and literature). He speaks English and Chinese.
Since 1995, he has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, including from February to June 2016 - Acting Director of the Department of Asia-Pacific Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
From 2016 to 2022, he was the Ambassador of Ukraine to Malaysia, as well as concurrently the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of East Timor.
He also heads the Fourth Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which ensures the formation, coordination of foreign policy, protection of national interests, political-diplomatic and information-analytical support for the implementation of Ukraine's policy towards the countries of the Indo-Pacific region.
In December 2024, Zelenskyy awarded Nechytailo the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

A spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, also known as China Aid, Li Ming, stated that Beijing could provide assistance in rebuilding Ukraine "in accordance with the wishes of the parties."
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has stated his readiness to facilitate a peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, Beijing does not plan to restrict economic cooperation with Russia and is ready to resist US pressure.
