Alexander Ruvin spoke about new elements in Russian drones, including flash drives and additional cameras. New UAVs similar to Shahed, but designed for reconnaissance and air defense tracking, have been discovered.

The enemy is experimenting with equipping its attack and reconnaissance drones with atypical elements. Director of Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise Oleksandr Ruvin told UNN what kind of components the Russians install on their UAVs.

Recently, we have repeatedly recorded various attempts by the Russians to use additional, say, atypical elements in reconnaissance and attack drones, such as various flash drives, additional cameras or SIM cards. They are not traced in all new research objects, but are obviously tested in single copies for a specific purpose

- said Oleksandr Ruvin.

He also confirmed information that the enemy has started using new drones, which are likely intended to track air defense systems and gather information.

We have information about new drones used by Russia. Cases of their use are currently isolated. It is known that visually they are very similar to "Shahed" type kamikaze drones, but do not carry explosives. This probably means that, unlike strike UAVs, which carry out strikes, the new samples found are designed to track our air defense systems, collect information, and record damage as a result of missile and attack attacks by strike UAVs. More detailed information will be available after the relevant examinations are appointed and the objects are transferred for research

- Ruvin noted.

As for the "Shahed" drones themselves, he said that the experts of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise have clearly established how the "Shahed-136" UAVs have been modified, of which there are currently three series: marked "M" - exclusively Iranian products, series "Y"  - samples that were assembled from ready-made Iranian parts in Russia, series "K" - fully manufactured in Russia.  Knowing this and other relevant information helps the Ukrainian side to understand the current state of affairs and respond appropriately.

"Over the past two and a half years, our experts have indeed performed hundreds and even thousands of excellent examinations of the facts of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Most of them are studies of the means of destruction used by the enemy against our country. First of all, we are talking about studies of all types of missiles and attack drones used by Russia during massive shelling. Expert studies of those parts and debris that remain at the scene are important in the context of further study in order to objectively understand the peculiarities of their operation, to track all possible changes and modernizations, as well as to effectively counter these means," summarized the Director of KFI.
