Electricity consumption in Ukraine has increased by almost 7% in the morning: citizens are urged to turn off unnecessary "lights"

With the lengthening of daylight hours in Ukraine, the period of active electricity consumption has increased from 09:00 to 22:00, which puts an additional strain on the power grid.
With the lengthening of daylight hours in Ukraine, the period of active electricity consumption has increased. As reported by Ukrenergo, today consumption exceeds yesterday's level by almost 7%, UNN reports.
"It's damp and cold outside today. Our consumption schedule is growing again. It has changed: the gap between the "ears" - consumption peaks - has increased. This means that with the lengthening of daylight hours, the period of active electricity consumption has increased. Previously, the period of the main load on the power system lasted from 09:00 to 19:00, but now it is from 09:00 to 22:00," the statement said.
According to Ukrenergo, consumption has been almost 7% higher than yesterday's level since the morning. This creates an additional load on the power plants - it is necessary to additionally turn on 3 units at thermal power plants at once. But after three massive Russian attacks, this is not possible - thermal power plants are one of the main targets of Russian armed strikes. Imports, which are a normal market means of covering the deficit in the energy system, are now almost half as much.
The company added that simple actions will help maintain the safe operation of the power system:
- Do not turn on heaters and air conditioners from 19:00 to 22:00;
- Do not use several powerful electrical appliances at the same time: a washing machine, vacuum cleaner, boiler, electric stove, kettle, and many others;
- Turn off unnecessary lighting and electrical appliances.
We also call on business and industry to save money:
- Please reduce the lighting of advertisements, shop windows, signs, and garlands, especially in the evening from 19.00 to 22.00;
- Revise production processes to ensure energy efficiency.
