Almost half of Poles hold Ukraine responsible for the escalation of the dispute with Warsaw – poll

46.6% of Poles hold Ukraine responsible for the escalation of the conflict, 25.4% consider both sides to blame. Men are more likely than women to blame Ukraine.

Almost half of Poland's residents believe that Ukraine is responsible for the escalation of the conflict between Warsaw and Kyiv, while over a third of respondents place the blame fully or partially on the Polish side. This is evidenced by the results of a SW Research survey for Rzeczpospolita, reports UNN.

According to the study, 46.6% of respondents believe that Ukraine is responsible for the deterioration of relations between the two countries. Another 25.4% are convinced that the responsibility lies with both sides, while 12.7% place the blame solely on Poland. At the same time, 11.4% of respondents could not decide on an answer, and 4% said they had not heard about this conflict.
Overall, 38.1% of survey participants believe that Poland is fully or partially responsible for the escalation of the dispute with Ukraine. As Rzeczpospolita notes, the conflict escalated after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called one of the Ukrainian units "Heroes of the UPA".
According to SW Research Vice President Piotr Zimolzak, men are significantly more likely than women to place primary responsibility for the conflict on Ukraine. 54% of men hold this view compared to 39% of women.
Furthermore, respondents with an income between 5,001 and 7,000 zlotys per month, as well as residents of cities with a population between 200,000 and 499,000, most often named Ukraine as responsible for the escalation of the dispute.
