The former Mandarin Oriental, Miami hotel, opened 25 years ago, will be demolished at 08:30 local time. The building is expected to collapse in a matter of seconds after the controlled explosion. According to local officials, the operation was chosen as the fastest and safest method of demolition.
The demolition was prepared for almost two years in coordination with city authorities and specialized contractors. The goal is to minimize risks and ensure the safety of residents in the area.
The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, a complex with two towers that will combine an ultra-luxury hotel and residential apartments, is planned to be built on the site of the former hotel. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2030.
