Women own more than 40% of audit and accounting firms and are leading the way in sectors such as tourism, education, catering, and light industry in Ukraine.
In Ukrainian business, women hold the position of chief accountant in 81% of the top 1000 companies. This is especially pronounced in the audit and accounting sector, where more than 40% of companies are owned by women. This is reported by YouControl.Market, according to UNN.

According to a study by the YouControl.Market team, the vast majority (81%) of the top 1000 companies have women as chief accountants. In the business sectors where corporate ownership is predominantly held by women, the most popular was the audit and accounting sector, where more than 40% of companies are owned by women, and another 20% are jointly owned.
Other popular sectors are tourism, education, catering, and light industry. Many companies in the real estate sector are also owned by women
They write that only 14% of executive positions are held by women in the top 1000 companies. According to the Global Gender Gap Report from the World Economic Forum, there is a persistent imbalance in the representation of women in leadership positions in the labor market. Based on LinkedIn data covering 163 countries, in 2023, it was found that 32.2% of senior management positions (directors, vice presidents, or senior executives) were held by women.
Of the top 1,000 companies by revenue in 2023, only 7% have women as ultimate beneficiaries, and another 11% have both women and men among their owners
The sectoral distribution of women's entrepreneurship among the top 1000 largest companies differs. Among the obvious leaders here are companies operating in the food industry, electricity, wholesale and retail trade, and oil and gas sectors. Interestingly, only one company in the agriculture sector is owned by a woman, while 17 companies are co-owned.
