Turkey has increased defense spending to 3.5% of GDP and allocates another 1.5% to security. President Erdogan stated the intention to reach the target of 5% ahead of the deadline set by NATO.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Ankara intends to reach the target of 5% of GDP on defense spending five years earlier than the deadline set by NATO. He stated this during the NATO summit, reports UNN.

According to Erdogan, Turkey has already increased defense spending to 3.5% of GDP, and directs another 1.5% of the budget to security and resilience enhancement.

He also emphasized that Turkey is among the top ten global leaders in the production and export of defense industry products.
