After this year's transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to the New Julian calendar, Ukrainians officially got the opportunity to celebrate Christmas together with the majority of the of the Christian world.
Traditions, prohibitions
With the change of date, Ukrainian traditions of celebrating Christmas Christ remained the same.
This day is the end of the Christmas fast, so you can eat meat, dairy products, and eggs.
You should definitely go to church and pray.
At Christmas, children and young people go carolling. Already different kinds of entertainment are allowed.
It is strictly prohibited on Christmas Day:
