They will be checked for ties to Russia: Rada may oblige some officials to take polygraph

Ukrainian MP Fedir Venislavsky proposes a law that would oblige certain officials and judges to undergo polygraph tests to check for ties to Russia. The tests would also apply to military and law enforcement officials
MP, former Presidential Representative in the Verkhovna Rada Fedir Venislavsky has submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada to oblige some officials, military and security officials, and judges to take a polygraph. UNN reports this with reference to the card of the bill No. 10322 published on the Rada's website.
Details
According to the bill, it is planned to oblige politicians and officials to undergo polygraph examinations.
The following will be subject to polygraph examination:
- MPs;
- the Prime Minister and his deputies, as well as ministers;
- heads of central executive bodies;
- the head of the Presidential Office and his deputies;
- the Prosecutor General, the head of the National Police, directors of the State Bureau of Investigation, the BES, the NABU, the heads of the State Customs Service and the State Migration Service, as well as their deputies;
- Commander-in-Chief, Chief of the General Staff, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, heads of military administrations, Head of the SSU, heads of intelligence agencies, Head of the State Protection Department, as well as officials of these agencies holding the rank of senior officer;
- Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the Supreme Court, as well as members of the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges.
Polygraph examinations will also be required for persons applying for the above positions. However, if they are elected through elections, they will not need to take a polygraph.
In the law, Venislavski states that polygraph examinations will be conducted to obtain information on being on agent's contact with the special services of Russia or Belarus, cooperation with Russia, collaboration, citizenship of Russia, etc.
In addition, in case of refusal to take a polygraph, it is proposed to refuse to appoint candidates to the position.
It is noted that the procedure for conducting a polygraph examination, which will be conducted by independent specialists by drawing lots among polygraph examiners, will have to be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed MP Fedir Venislavskyy from the post of acting Presidential Representative in the Verkhovna Rada.
