Details
The unique mission of private cosmonautics started today from the cosmodrome at Cape Canaveral. The Crew Dragon spacecraft of SpaceX has set off on the first ever orbital flight, which will pass over both poles of the Earth.
The launch took place from launch pad 39A of the Kennedy Space Center at 4:46 a.m. local time. The flight, called Fram2, has a scientific purpose and will provide unique data on the impact of flights over the polar regions. Space tourists and researchers will spend several days at an altitude of approximately 450 km.
Interestingly, there are no U.S. citizens among the mission participants. There are four astronauts on board: Maltese businessman and Chinese-born scientist Chun Wang, German Rabea Rogge, who became the first female astronaut of her country, Australian researcher Eric Philips, and Norwegian filmmaker Jannik Mikkelsen.
Reminder
