Ties between Russia and China are at an unprecedented level, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin told his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing on Wednesday and invited him to visit Russia next year, UNN reports, citing Reuters.

Putin and Xi Jinping gathered for a meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

At the beginning of the meeting, Xi stated that China and Russia should promote a more just world order.

He stated that the two countries should promote each other's development and revival. Xi also said that China and Russia should promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system.

Relations between China and Russia have reached such a level because the parties have managed to deepen political mutual trust and strategic cooperation, Xi pointed out.

Putin said that relations between the two countries have reached an unprecedented level. He invited Xi to visit Russia next year.

Putin stated that Russia-China relations contribute to global stability. He also noted that economic relations between the countries show good dynamics.

Putin also stated that Russia remains a reliable energy supplier amid the crisis in the Middle East.

Xi said it is crucial to end hostilities in the Middle East and that negotiations are particularly important. He also added that ending the war would help reduce disruptions to the stability of global energy supplies and the international trade order.

Ahead of the meeting between Xi and Putin, Russian state media reported that Moscow is considering joint projects with the United States and China.

On Wednesday, Russian media quoted Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (Russia's sovereign wealth fund), Putin's special envoy and a key figure in negotiations between Moscow and Washington, as saying that "within the Russian Direct Investment Fund, we are also considering certain projects, including those involving both China and the US."

As Xinhua notes, Xi Jinping and Putin also agreed on Wednesday to extend the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between the PRC and the Russian Federation.

As SCMP points out, attention is also focused on how Putin might promote the proposed "Power of Siberia 2" gas pipeline project, which aims to transport 50 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas annually from the Yamal Peninsula to northern China via Mongolia.

CNBC indicates that issues of pricing, financing terms, and delivery schedules remain unresolved in the project.

China reportedly wanted the pricing terms for the new pipeline to match Russia's domestic tariff, which is around 120-130 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, while Moscow seeks terms closer to "Power of Siberia 1," which analysts estimate is more than double that figure.
