Natural disaster in the USA: tornado in Tennessee carried a man into his neighbor's yard

The storms caused by the tornado last night in the USA were so powerful that they knocked down dozens of buildings and structures. One man in heavily damaged Selmer, Tennessee, was literally swept into his neighbor's yard by a wave. The state also confirmed the deaths of three people from the tornado. This is reported by UNN with reference to CNN.

Matt Vandevander from Selmer, Tennessee, jumped into the bathtub to try to survive the storm, but it was too late.

I just heard my house being torn apart, and then I was instantly in my neighbor's backyard, it feels like

- he said.

However, the man was lucky, because he only got two scratches. His mother, whose neighboring house was also destroyed, was also not injured.

I assumed she was dead. We heard her voice, and it was such a relief. I'm very happy – happier than I probably should be

- added Vandevander.

Despite the lucky incident with Matt Vandevander, a state of emergency is still declared in Tennessee. The governor of the state appealed to the federal authorities to help remove debris and apply emergency protective measures. The state also confirmed the deaths of three people: in Obion County, Fayette County, and McNairy County.

The geography of the tragic cases indicates a wide range of severe storms in West Tennessee overnight, the publication notes. Four more people were injured in Fayette County, two of them in critical condition.

Earlier, UNN wrote that at least 4 people died during the night storm in the USA. The same number were hospitalized. Dozens of cars went under water on the streets of Indianapolis. Houses were destroyed in Arkansas, and 200,000 Americans were left without electricity in Indiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri.
