Lithuania will extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025, as the EU allows it to be extended for another year. The process of extending temporary residence permits starts next week.

This was announced by the head of the Lithuanian Evelina Gudzinskaite, the head of the Lithuanian Migration Department, writes LRT, reports UNN.

A very large number of Ukrainians received temporary protection until March 4, 2024. As the permits are about to expire, it is time to think about their replacement. The EU has decided to extend temporary protection for another year, until March for another year, until March 2025. This means that all Ukrainians who have been granted temporary protection can extend their residence permit for another year

She noted that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 Lithuania has issued 46,000 digital residence permits on the basis of temporary protection.
