The commander of the Lithuanian army announced a noticeable reduction of Russian ground troops in the Kaliningrad region due to the successful offensive of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region. He called for vigilance as Russia continues to try to control the Baltic region.

Due to the successful offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, there is a noticeable reduction in Russian ground troops in Kaliningrad, Lithuanian Army Commander Raimundas Vaikshnoras said. However, according to him, one should not relax, as the Kremlin continues its attempts to control the Baltic Sea region. This was reported by UNN with reference to Delfi.

As soon as the war in Ukraine began, we already noticed that a lot of equipment and machinery (...) and some personnel were transferred from Kaliningrad. Only they have returned after rotation, and now it is clear that there is a sufficient reduction, at least of the ground forces

- Raimundas Vaikshnoras said.

"But let's not fool ourselves, the so-called A2/AD system, which provides air cover, is strong. And nothing has changed there. They are still trying to control the Baltic Sea, they are still trying to control this region, so we also have to remain vigilant and monitor what is happening there," he emphasized.

The army commander emphasized that while Ukrainians are fighting for the freedom of the West as a whole, Lithuania should use this time to strengthen itself.

"While the Ukrainians are fighting for our freedom so that we, the people of the West, can live well, we must use this time to strengthen our forces and support the Ukrainians as much as possible so that they can defeat the Russians not only in Ukraine but also in Russia, which is happening right now," he emphasized.
