Keith Kellogg criticized NATO allies and proposed a new structure involving Japan, Poland, and Ukraine. He called the Alliance a "cowardly" and ineffective organization.

Former US Special Envoy for Ukraine, retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, stated that NATO may need a replacement, arguing that the organization has shown itself to be "cowardly" and ineffective during the conflict with Iran. This was reported by Fox News, according to UNN.

Speaking on the "Hannity" program, Kellogg criticized NATO allies for their inability to resolve the conflict in Iran. He suggested that the United States could benefit from other defense partners.
NATO is turning into cowards. Perhaps we need a new NATO, a new defense structure
He pointed to Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which states that any party may withdraw from NATO one year after giving notice of denunciation, and proposed alternative alliance structures.
Rethink the defense structures we have, perhaps create them with Japan and Australia, and also with some of those European countries that are willing to enter the fight, such as a new, re-engaged Germany or Poland. Even Ukraine, which has also proven its effectiveness
His concerns about the organization were echoed by former US Deputy National Security Advisor Victoria Coates, who stated that NATO had proven its "insignificance."
They cannot cope with the biggest war in Europe since World War II. On their own continent, they could not cope with it. So I don't think we really need them in the Middle East. It would be good to have their support. But President Trump has shown what the United States can do with such a truly motivated ally as Israel
In turn, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who previously held positions related to NATO operations, called the state of the alliance appalling.
"I have considered NATO a very important ally for decades. But to watch their helplessness, their inability to convince their own people, their domestic audience, that it matters, to explain to them why they are safer because of what the United States did with our friends in Israel, and then to help us in this mission... I think there will have to be a fundamental rethinking of how exactly the United States ensures that we accurately figure out who our allies are and what we can rely on them for," Pompeo said.
