Cyberattacks against Germany, EU partners, and Ukraine are unacceptable. We are responding decisively to them, including by imposing additional sanctions

- stated the German Foreign Ministry.

As the publication notes, on the same day, the Russian ambassador was also summoned to the French Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, the European Union imposed sanctions against nine individuals and four organizations suspected of involvement in large-scale malicious cyber activity.

According to the EU, a key role in these operations was played by the 16th Center of the Russian FSB, which, according to the European side, coordinated the activities of several hacker groups, including Turla, also known as Snake or Uroburos. They are accused of multi-year campaigns of cyber espionage and sabotage against state institutions and critical infrastructure facilities in Europe.

The attacks affected at least nine states – Germany, France, Poland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria, Slovakia, Romania, and Finland.

In addition, the United Kingdom announced its own package of sanctions against 24 individuals and organizations linked to Russian cyber operations.
