Friedrich Merz, the CDU candidate for chancellor, plans to visit Ukraine in the coming days. After the visit, he intends to inform his European partners about the results of the trip.
Friedrich Merz, a candidate for German chancellor from the largest opposition bloc, the Christian Democratic Union, plans to visit Ukraine. The visit may take place “in the coming days”. This was reported by n-tv, according to UNN.

According to Merz, his trip to Ukraine is scheduled “in the next few days,” and upon his return he will “inform European partners” about its results.
Merz had already visited Ukraine in May 2022, shortly after Russia's full-scale invasion began. At that time, he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
It is noted that Germany is on the verge of early parliamentary elections, after the “traffic light coalition” with the participation of Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats, the Greens and the Free Democrats collapsed in November.
Merz currently has the best chance of becoming the next German Chancellor. Although the current chancellor, Scholz, is also a candidate for this position.
