China, Japan and South Korea discussed trade cooperation amid US duties. This is reported by CCTV, reports UNN.
Details
Beijing, Tokyo and Seoul held their first meeting in five years dedicated to economic cooperation, seeking to strengthen regional trade and address supply chain issues.
During the negotiations, the three countries expressed interest in deepening cooperation in the field of semiconductors. Japan and South Korea are considering importing critical raw materials from China, while Beijing is interested in purchasing high-tech components from its neighbors.
However, the discussion did not bypass sensitive issues, including US customs policy. A statement circulated by Chinese state media hinted at a supposedly joint response from the three countries to US tariffs. However, Seoul called this interpretation "exaggerated", stressing that the agreements focus mainly on strengthening cooperation in the field of trade and export control.
The meeting participants reaffirmed their intention to accelerate negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone between China, Japan and South Korea, which, in their opinion, will contribute to the development of the regional and global economy.
