A ban on catching crayfish is being introduced in Ukraine: when and where the restrictions will apply

Starting from December 1, 2024, Ukraine will introduce a ban on catching crayfish in most water bodies. On the Danube, the ban will be effective from December 5, on reservoirs - from December 15.
Since December 1 of this year, the catch of crayfish in Ukraine is prohibited, writes UNN with reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and food of Ukraine.

For the preservation and protection of crayfish during their mating, spawning and first molt, from December 1, 2024, a ban on catching crayfish begins in many reservoirs of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that on the Danube River and the Danube Lakes, the ban will take effect from December 5, and on the Kiev, Kanevsky, Kremenchug, Kamensky and Dnieper reservoirs – from December 15.
But in Transcarpathia, where there are dominant groups of crayfish formed by the Red Book broad-brimmed crayfish, the ban on catching will be in effect throughout the year.
