The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention until September 7, 2026, without the possibility of bail for a serviceman of the Skelya regiment. He is suspected of beating a chaplain and a lieutenant colonel in the Kharkiv region.

The court has taken into custody a serviceman of the "Skelya" regiment for beating a chaplain and a lieutenant colonel, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported on Saturday, writes UNN.
According to the investigation materials of the SBI, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in the form of detention until September 7, 2026, without the right to bail for a serviceman suspected of beating colleagues in the Kharkiv region.
Earlier, SBI officers detained and notified a serviceman of suspicion, who at the time of the crimes was serving in the "Skelya" regiment. He is charged with beating two servicemen in the Kharkiv region.
According to the SBI, the first incident occurred in May 2025 near one of the villages in the Izium district. Servicemen from another unit, who had previously been performing combat missions, arrived at the temporary deployment site of "Skelya".
"A conflict arose between the servicemen over the placement of personnel and equipment. The military chaplain tried to calm the parties and suggested resolving the situation at the command level. According to the investigation, the suspect punched the chaplain in the face several times, causing him moderate bodily injuries. The victim was hospitalized with a concussion and a fractured jaw," the statement reads.
The second episode, as noted, occurred in June 2025 in the city of Barvinkove.
"The suspect attacked a lieutenant colonel. He knocked the officer off his feet, then began punching and kicking him in the head and torso, breaking the victim's rib," the statement said.
The serviceman has been detained. He has been notified of suspicion of violating statutory rules of relations between servicemen, resulting in moderate bodily injuries, as well as violence against a superior committed under martial law - under Part 2 of Article 406 and Part 4 of Article 405 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanctions of the articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 10 years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
"Investigators continue active work to verify other possible facts of physical violence, illegal restriction of freedom, threats with weapons, improper treatment, and failure to provide medical care to servicemen at the distribution and training sites of the "Skelya" regiment," the SBI noted.
