The SBU prevented sabotage at a defense enterprise in Lviv by detaining a Russian agent. The perpetrator tried to disguise the explosion as a technical accident.

In Lviv, an russian agent who attempted to carry out a sabotage by blowing up a defense enterprise in the city was detained, the Security Service of Ukraine reported on Friday, UNN writes.
The Security Service prevented an attempt by russia to destroy a technological workshop of one of the enterprises of the military-industrial complex (MIC) in western Ukraine. As a result of proactive measures, a russian agent who was preparing to blow up a strategic facility was detained in Lviv
As the investigation established, "the perpetrator tried to commit sabotage disguised as a short circuit of production equipment during the work process."
According to the special service, the perpetrator's plan was that the subsequent fire would cause explosions that would supposedly occur due to a technical accident at the production facility.
SBU cyber specialists prevented the sabotage and "detained the agent after an attempt to set fire in one of the workshops."
According to the case materials, the task of the rashists was carried out by a local resident recruited by the enemy, who was supervised through his brother, who is abroad and cooperates with the aggressor country.
"On the instructions of a curator from russia, the agent got a job as a general worker at a MIC enterprise. Later, the suspect received step-by-step instructions from his brother from a representative of the russian special services on organizing arson and destroying sections with production facilities," the SBU said.
As reported by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region, "at the end of December 2025, the accomplices placed an electric stove under a high-pressure pneumatic cylinder of production equipment. According to their plan, this was supposed to cause a fire, which would subsequently lead to an explosion, halt the enterprise's operations, disrupt the fulfillment of defense orders, and cause significant material damage."
During searches at the scene, as noted by the SBU, evidence of the sabotage and the suspect's personal belongings were found.
The suspect was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law).
He is in custody, and the case materials have already been sent to court. Also, his brother, who is hiding from justice abroad, received a notice of suspicion in absentia for committing the crime.
Both accomplices of the enemy face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
