Hezbollah leader sets condition for ceasefire and threatens response to Israeli actions

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem stated that a ceasefire is possible only on condition of a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon. The group threatened to respond to any violations of the ceasefire regime.

The leader of the Lebanese group "Hezbollah" Naim Qassem stated that the organization will not agree to a ceasefire that allows Israel to maintain a military presence in Lebanon or conduct operations there. Reuters reports, writes UNN.

The statement came amid a previously announced truce and statements by Israeli officials about the possibility of continuing actions against threats on Lebanese territory.
According to Qassem, the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon is a mandatory condition for any long-term agreements.

Qassem also emphasized that "Hezbollah" is ready to adhere to the ceasefire, but only on the condition that it is observed by all parties.

Reuters notes that the Iran-backed "Hezbollah" is not directly involved in the negotiations between Israel and Lebanon, which are expected to continue on Tuesday in Washington.
After several days of intense fighting on Sunday, relative calm prevailed in Lebanon, with no reports of new Israeli strikes.
