The 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade has changed its commander—Lieutenant Colonel Bohdan Kuras has replaced Anatoliy Kulykivskyi. This unit is currently holding back the Russian advance in Kostiantynivka, UNN reports with reference to a post by the 28th SMB on Facebook.

Kulykivskyi added: based on the results of 2025, the 28th Separate Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign ranked 13th among all the Defense Forces of Ukraine and 5th in the Ground Forces in terms of the employment of UAV units.

Additional Information

According to data on the brigade's website, Colonel Anatoliy Kulykivskyi served in the 28th SMB as deputy brigade commander from June 2023 to October 2024. He became the commander of the 28th SMB in October 2024.

During his service, he was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, 3rd Class. He participated in combat operations in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Popasna, Vuhledar, and Bakhmut sectors.

The new commander, Lieutenant Colonel Bohdan Kuras, previously headed the 34th Separate Motorized Infantry Battalion "Volkodavy" (Wolfhounds), which is part of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade.
