Afghanistan reports 7 dead due to shelling from Pakistan; Islamabad denies involvement
Kyiv • UNN
Shelling in northeastern Afghanistan has killed seven people and injured 85 others. Islamabad denies its involvement in these attacks.

In northeastern Afghanistan, at least 7 people were killed and another 85 wounded as a result of shelling which, according to Kabul, was carried out from Pakistani territory. This was reported by AP, according to UNN.
Details
According to Afghan officials, mortars and rockets hit a university and residential buildings. Meanwhile, Pakistan denied involvement in the strikes.
Pakistan's Ministry of Information stated that reports of an attack on the university are a "blatant lie."
First incident since negotiations
This is the first major instance of violence since the start of peace talks between the parties, which took place in early April with Chinese mediation.
Despite agreements not to escalate the conflict, tensions between the countries persist. In recent months, Afghanistan and Pakistan have exchanged strikes, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
Mutual accusations
Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of harboring militants from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan group, while Kabul rejects these accusations.
The ceasefire announced earlier during the Eid al-Fitr holiday temporarily reduced the level of hostilities, but the new shelling calls into question the stability of the peace process.
