A forest fire has broken out in Larissa, Greece, and 70 fires have been registered across the country, 57 have been localized and 13 are ongoing, the causes of which are being investigated.
A wildfire has broken out in the Elafos area of Larissa in central Greece. According to the fire service, 70 fires have been registered across the country. This was reported by the Greek edition of eKathimerini on April 8, UNN reports.

The cause is being investigated by local investigative authorities and the Arson Prevention Department.
Meanwhile, a 77-year-old man was detained for a fire that broke out on Monday morning in Markopulo in eastern Attica. The man was prosecuted for setting fire to crop residues on his own plot of land. According to the rules, he received a fine of 500 euros and will be brought to trial.
Authorities across the country remain vigilant after 71 wildfires were reported across the country in just 12 hours on Saturday.
The largest fire in Crete has forced dozens of people to flee their homes. Authorities ordered a preliminary evacuation of the villages of Akhlia, Galini, Agia Fotia and Mavros Kolimpos as flames engulfed some houses.
The fire, which has been brought under control, broke out early Saturday morning. Fanned by strong winds, the fire spread through the slopes of a mountain forest east of the coastal town of Hierapetra.
"The fire has been largely contained thanks to the efforts of hundreds of firefighters," a fire service spokesman told Reuters. - "It was the first major (fire) near a residential area this year.
