Petro Poroshenko
Fifth President of Ukraine
Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko is the fifth President of Ukraine (June 7, 2014 - May 20, 2019), a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation. An entrepreneur, regularly taking places in the ratings of the wealthiest Ukrainians. The owner of the Roshen confectionery corporation, he also owns the Fifth Channel and Pryamiy (Direct) TV channels, and a number of other business structures in various fields.
He was born in 1965 in Bolhrad, Odesa region. He graduated from the Faculty of International Relations and International Law of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. He was a co-founder of the Party of Regions. In 2004, he was the head of the election headquarters of presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko. He held ministerial positions in the governments of Yulia Tymoshenko and Mykola Azarov. In 2019, he was defeated in the elections, losing to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is the head of the European Solidarity party. In 2025, the National Security and Defense Council imposed sanctions against him, signed by President Zelenskyy.
