The official announced the reduction of about 10,000 full-time positions and the closure of half of the regional offices.
We are not just cutting the bureaucratic apparatus. We are restructuring the organization in accordance with its core mission and our new priorities, which are to curb the epidemic of chronic diseases
The cuts will affect various divisions of the department and its subordinate agencies, including those responsible for responding to epidemics and approving new drugs.
Overall, this reorganization and previous voluntary redundancies provide a reduction in full-time employees from 82,000 to 62,000.
