The National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine have exposed 6 more "draft evasion schemes" in various regions of the country. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SBU.

Details

The investigation established that the perpetrators, for sums ranging from 2 to 20 thousand US dollars, offered conscripts to avoid conscription through forged documents or helped them flee abroad outside of checkpoints.

In Zakarpattia, the SBU military counterintelligence, in cooperation with the State Border Guard Service, detained an offender who had established another channel for draft dodgers to escape to the European Union. According to the case materials, the suspect organized a "convoy" to transport conscripts across the western border.

In Lviv region, a psychiatrist from a central hospital in the region was detained for offering conscripts a Group III disability for bribes. For a "quick" processing of medical documents, he promised to influence acquaintances who were members of the expert team for assessing a person's daily functioning (formerly MSEK).

In Dnipropetrovsk region, another offender was exposed who was trading fictitious conclusions of the military medical commission about unsuitability for service in combat units. According to the case materials, the suspect promised already mobilized men to involve familiar officials of the VVC to forge medical conclusions with subsequent transfer to rear military units.

In Odesa region, three employees of the emergency medical care center were detained for transporting draft dodgers to Transnistria in an "ambulance." Law enforcement officers detained the offenders when they were transporting a draft dodger, disguised as a driver-sanitarian, to a neighboring country.

In Vinnytsia, a resident of Kyiv was detained who organized a channel of illegal migration from Ukraine to Moldova across the Dniester River.

All suspects have been notified of suspicion in accordance with the crimes committed under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 3 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine);
    • Part 3 of Art. 369-2 (abuse of influence).

      The offenders face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.
