ISIS has claimed responsibility for the shooting in Russia. An affiliate of the terrorist group has recently made several attempted attacks in France. This forced Paris to raise the terrorist threat level to the maximum.

An affiliate of the Islamic State terrorist group, which claimed responsibility for the shooting at a concert hall in Russia, has "made several attempts to strike on French soil in recent months," French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday, as quoted by Le Parisien, reports UNN

Macron said that the Islamic State group, which claimed responsibility for the attack, "has made several attempts on our own soil in recent months."

Because of this, he said, it was decided to raise the level of terrorist threat in the country to the maximum.

The French president expressed his wish to "find the perpetrators as soon as possible" and called for continued "effective action against these groups that plan to operate in several countries," promising to "strengthen cooperation" with Russia in this regard.

He also emphasized the need to "guard against any instrumentalization or distortion."

France believes that the statement about the attack on Moscow came from the Islamic State in Khorasan.  As noted, the terrorist group's branch has been involved in several recent foiled attacks in a number of European countries, including Germany and France.

"We have prevented many attacks. Several Islamic State attacks have been prevented in France, especially at the end of 2022," Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed on Monday morning.
