Ukrenergo responds to information on power unit outage at South Ukrainian NPP

The CEO of Ukrenergo commented on the information about the emergency situation at the South Ukrainian NPP, referring to the IAEA report confirming the abnormal situation in the operation of the transformer that led to the power unit shutdown.

Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, reacted to the spread of information about the emergency situation at the South Ukrainian NPP, noting that during martial law and during constant enemy attacks, the situation at specific power facilities cannot be commented on publicly. Kudrytsky said this during a briefing, UNN reports.

Context

In the IAEA confirmed the fact of a temporary shutdown of one of the power units at the South Ukrainian NPP. The Agency said in a statement that last week, the second unit of the South Ukrainian NPP was temporarily shut down after electrical protections tripped due to a problem with a transformer in an open 330 kV switchgear located outside the NPP site.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine emphasized that all Ukrainian nuclear power plants were operating normally. However, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak published a response from Ukrenergoto his appeal. The letter from Ukrenergo also confirms the violations in the operation of the South Ukrainian NPP, which led to the shutdown of the thousandth power unit.
