Diplomats are discussing a return to the status quo and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The issue of Iran's nuclear program is planned to be addressed at later stages.

The US and Iran may not have met for a second round of talks in Pakistan, but according to sources familiar with the mediation process, the parties are not as far apart as they seem, CNN reports, according to UNN.

According to sources, intensive diplomacy is taking place behind the scenes, and current negotiations are centered around a phased process in which the first part of a potential deal would focus on returning to the pre-war status quo and opening the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions or fees.
The issue of Iran's nuclear program, which both the US and Israel have called their casus belli, will be addressed later.
US President Donald Trump has previously stated that any deal would require Iran to give up its supplies of near-bomb-grade uranium and enrichment, demands that Iran strongly refuses to accept.
According to sources, mediators are putting pressure on both sides to reach an agreement, and the next few days will be particularly important. Hanging over all of this is the possibility that the US could decide to withdraw from this and return to war.
