No electricity deficit recorded, enemy again hits TPPs in frontline region - Ministry of Energy
Kyiv • UNN
Despite the shelling of a thermal power plant in eastern Ukraine, there is currently no shortage of electricity and no restrictions on electricity supply as repairs and imports maintain the balance.
Electricity consumption in Ukraine remains high. In the east, one of the thermal power plants was shelled again at night, causing damage. At the same time, no shortages are currently recorded. This was reported on Friday by NPC Ukrenergo and the Ministry of Energy, UNN writes.
There is no shortage of electricity in the system, no power supply restrictions are applied in any of the regions, the Ministry of Energy reported.
Generation and consumption
"In the east, one of the thermal power plants was shelled again at night, along with its satellite town, there is damage to the equipment," the NEC said.
The Ministry of Energy added that "the enemy once again struck at one of the thermal power plants in the frontline region, and the damage is currently being inspected."
According to the Ministry of Energy, "no shortage of electricity was recorded over the past day and is not expected for the current day; the electricity produced by Ukrainian power plants is sufficient to cover the needs of consumers."
After the repairs, two units at TPPs and two CHPPs in the southern and western regions returned to operation within a day, according to the NEC. At the same time, three other power units at TPPs in different regions went into emergency repairs.
Solar power plants produce almost no electricity due to cloudy weather.
"At the same time, consumption limits have not been introduced, no outage schedules have been introduced and are not expected," Ukrenergo said.
Yesterday, December 14, despite stable temperatures, electricity consumption increased. The daily maximum was in the morning and 2.4% higher than on December 13.
"The increase in consumption puts an additional strain on the power system. It is now very important to consume electricity sparingly," Ukrenergo said.
Exports/imports
There are no exports today. Electricity is imported during daytime hours from Slovakia, Romania and Moldova.
Accidents and blackouts
The capacity of Ukrenergo's high-voltage networks is sufficient to cover the existing demand.
A high-voltage overhead line in the eastern region was out of service yesterday due to severe ice. There were no power outages, and restoration works are underway.
As of the morning of December 15, 355 settlements in Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, Poltava, Kharkiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions were without power due to the weather. In Donetsk region, 119 settlements were without power for more than a day.
Due to technical damages, there are consumers without power in Kyiv region.
445 settlements remain without electricity due to hostilities and other reasons. The shelling caused new damages to the power grids in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and other regions.
ZNPP
"The water level in the cooling pond is 15.65 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant," the Ministry of Energy reported.
