The President and Prime Minister of Ukraine welcomed the financial assistance from the EU for weapons and energy. The first tranche is expected in May-June to strengthen defense.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko welcomed the EU's decision to unblock a 90 billion euro loan to support Ukraine. This was reported by UNN.
Details
As the head of state noted on Telegram, this package "will add strength to the Ukrainian army, provide Ukraine with more stability, and allow it to fulfill social obligations to Ukrainians as stipulated by law."
We are working to make the first tranche of this support package available in May-June. Funds from the European package will be directed, in particular, to weapons production, the purchase of necessary weapons from partners that we do not yet produce in Ukraine, as well as to preparing our energy sector and critical infrastructure for the next winter.
At the same time, Ukraine will discuss further sanctions pressure on Russia for the unleashed war with partners during meetings in Cyprus, Zelenskyy noted.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also welcomed the EU's decision.
This decision will strengthen Ukraine's macro-financial stability and defense capabilities and is a historic signal of trust in our state. Now we expect the fastest possible implementation so that this support begins to flow to Ukraine without delay.

On Thursday, April 23, the European Union officially approved financial assistance to Ukraine and increased sanctions pressure on Russia. It adopted the 20th package of sanctions in response to the escalation of the aggressive war against Ukraine.
