A historic event: Ukraine joins the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time

Ukraine was elected to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time during the 24th session of the UNESCO General Assembly in Paris. This position will allow Ukraine to take an active part in the protection and preservation of World Heritage sites.
On November 22, Ukraine was elected to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time. This is reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine (MCIP), UNN reports.

The Ministry noted that this happened at the 24th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

This is a historic event for Ukraine and an important step in the development and protection of Ukraine's cultural and natural heritage. The Ministry of Culture noted that Ukraine's election to the World Heritage Committee opens up new opportunities for active participation in the implementation of the Convention, including decisions on the use of the World Heritage Fund and the inclusion of sites on the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger.
It is noted that the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage ratified by Ukraine in 1988 contributes to the effective protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage in our country.
