Olha Mykhailivna Freimut (née Konyk, married name — Lokotko) was born on February 25, 1982, in Novyi Rozdil, Lviv Oblast, into a family of athletes. She took her pseudonym from her mother's maiden surname, as she considered the surname Konyk unsuitable for television. She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Journalism at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, earned a bachelor's degree at the private Vistula University in Warsaw, and a master's degree in international journalism from City, University of London. She began her journalism career at the BBC in London, returned to Ukraine after the Orange Revolution, and started working in the international department of Channel 5, later moving to 1+1 and Novyi Kanal. She gained nationwide popularity thanks to the morning show "Pidyom" (Rise), and especially the project "Revizor" (Inspector), in which she checked the quality of service establishments; the show became one of the most successful projects of Novyi Kanal and was nominated for "Best Infotainment Show" at the Teletriumph-2012 awards. She writes an author's column for the British publication Sunday Express, in which she tells foreign audiences about the situation in Ukraine. She has three children: a daughter, Zlata (2006), from a British man named Neil, and a son, Valerii (2016), and a daughter, Yevdokiia (2017), from her current husband, Volodymyr Lokotko, the general producer of Novyi Kanal. Since February 2022, after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, she has been living in London with her husband and children.
