"The main purpose of this law, which comes into force, is to create opportunities for military personnel who went to the NWF or deserted, to return to the unit by January 1, 2025 and continue this service without remorse and without conflicts with the legislation of Ukraine," Sapyan said.

She also spoke about the algorithm of actions for the military who decided to return.

"If you went to the NWCH as a serviceman or deserted, there is an opportunity to return to the military unit. That is, in fact, you can return to the military unit in a month. After you return to your place of service or to a military unit, the commander of this military unit has 72 hours when he extends the contract, or resumes his service," Sapyan said.

Also, according to her, cash payments, food payments, benefits and social guarantees are being resumed.

"Further, the commander of a military unit after a serviceman returns to his place of service, to his military unit, he is obliged to write a letter in writing, in simple words, and inform the pre - trial investigation body or the military law enforcement service that the serviceman has returned to defend the borders of Ukraine," Sapiyan said.

It is one thing when a person appears in criminal proceedings that are being investigated by the state Bureau of investigation, but another thing is when such proceedings have not yet been opened on the fact of NWCH or desertion.

She also noted that the criminal proceedings will be closed if the military returns to performing their duties.
