The maximum level of danger has been declared on the Barcelona coast due to the DANA storm, with up to 180 mm of precipitation expected in 12 hours. Due to heavy rains, part of El Prat airport is flooded and rail service is suspended.
On Monday, Catalonia faced the aftermath of a storm that caused 214 deaths (the preliminary number of victims may rise) and damaged Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia.

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated a red alert in Catalonia. It is currently known that the provinces of Castellon, Catalonia and Barcelona are facing heavy rains. At least 17 flights were diverted from El Prat airport in Barcelona, where heavy rains flooded part of the airport. Regional rail service has been suspended.
The Civil Defense of the Generalitat warned that the precipitation was “very intense”, so they asked citizens to avoid mobility.

The area that AEMET categorizes as “extreme risk” due to the effects of the storm and rain is the Barcelona coast. Up to 180 mm of precipitation can fall there in 12 hours.
“This will mainly affect Bash-Lyobregat and the surrounding areas,” the agency reports.
A yellow alert has been declared in the coastal zone of Barcelona. At in the afternoon, a yellow level of danger is in effect in the same area with a forecast of decreased precipitation and a maximum of 20 mm per hour.
