Syrskyi announces creation of medical battalions in each army corps

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the successful experiment of creating separate medical battalions will be scaled up to the level of army corps, UNN reports.

Modern warfare fundamentally changes the requirements for the military medical support system. In conditions where the enemy creates 15–20-kilometer "kill zones" and FPV drones pose a constant threat to logistics and evacuation of the wounded, frontline medicine must be as autonomous, protected, robotic, and digitalized as possible

- Syrskyi said after a meeting on military medicine issues.

According to him, despite extremely difficult conditions, the medical support of units is being improved to preserve the lives and health of Ukrainian soldiers.

This primarily concerns:

✔️development of evacuation using unmanned and robotic systems; ✔️creation of protected underground stabilization points;

✔️digitalization of accounting, management, and medical care provision processes.

Representatives of certain branches of the armed forces (services) and units reported on the results of their work and shared practical experience in adapting military medicine to the modern nature of combat operations. I consider the experiment of creating separate universal-type medical battalions, which provide medical support to various components of the Defense Forces, to be successful. It is these units that are becoming the flagships for introducing new approaches in military medicine, including the use of ground robotic systems. The number of successful evacuations of the wounded using GRCs is increasing every month

- Syrskyi added.

According to the Commander-in-Chief, the next step is to create a separate medical battalion within each army corps, "which will ensure a continuous system of medical support for troops within the corps' area of responsibility and significantly increase the efficiency of evacuation and care provision."

At the same time, we must continue to build up the capabilities of military medicine and do everything possible to ensure that every military medic is provided with modern equipment, transport, protective gear, and everything necessary to perform their tasks. Based on the results of the meeting, I identified relevant tasks for the next period

- Syrskyi summarized.
