Ukrainian farmers have already planted more than 1.26 million hectares of spring grains and pulses, such as wheat, barley, peas and oats, in the government-controlled areas.

Ukrainian farmers have already sown more than a million hectares of spring grains and legumes, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported on Friday, UNN reports.

"On the territory controlled by Ukraine, 1 million 260 thousand hectares of grain and legumes have already been sown," the statement said.

Among them: 

  • wheat - 173.9 thousand hectares;
  • barley - 683.4 thou hectares;
  • peas - 147.7 thousand hectares;
  • Oats -  117 thousand hectares.

Over the past week, the country's agrarians sowed 408.6 thou hectares of grains and legumes, as indicated. Poltava region agrarians have completed sowing of early grains and legumes, as indicated. 

Sunflower was sown on 470.1 thousand hectares.

The area under sugar beet is 157.6 thousand hectares. The largest area is in Vinnytsia region - 42 thousand hectares.

Farmers in 15 regions have started sowing corn. 120 thousand hectares have already been sown.

Agrarians in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Khmelnytsky and Kherson regions have started sowing buckwheat and millet. 

Soybeans are sown in 9 regions.
