Poturaiev held the position of head of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy from June 17, 2020.

Context

On Sunday, July 12, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an update of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the resignation of Yulia Svyrydenko, and also proposed that she "lead a new significant direction in relations with a key partner."

On Monday, July 13, a statement on the resignation of Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko was received by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

On Tuesday, July 14, the parliament with 258 votes supported the resignation of the head of government Yulia Svyrydenko along with the Cabinet of Ministers.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy then stated that after consultations, he considers Serhiy Koretskyi the most prepared person for the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine.

On Thursday, July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Koretskyi, who heads NAK "Naftogaz of Ukraine," as the new Prime Minister of Ukraine to replace Yulia Svyrydenko.
