It is noted that the World Dance Sport Organization stated that Talash was disqualified for demonstrating a political slogan. This contradicts the rules of the Olympic Charter.
Regardless of the commission's decision, Talash would not have qualified for the next battle, as she lost the preliminary qualifying competition to India's Sarjo from the Netherlands. 21-year-old Manija Talash left Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power in 2021. The athlete now lives in Spain.
