Russia's attack on energy infrastructure in Ukraine caused an almost complete blackout in three regions, with power outages in six more regions, and consumers in Odesa region still without electricity; emergency shutdowns are currently being applied in most regions, the Ministry of Energy and NEC "Ukrenergo" reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.
Enemy shelling
During the night and morning, the enemy launched another massive attack on Ukraine's energy system, the ninth since the beginning of the year. As a result, by morning, consumers in Rivne, Ternopil, and Khmelnytskyi regions were almost completely without power. There are also power outages caused by shelling in Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions.
As stated, emergency restoration work will begin as soon as the security situation allows.
"In Odesa region, the aftermath of several consecutive massive strikes on the region's energy infrastructure is being eliminated, and a significant number of consumers remain without power. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore damaged equipment to operation as soon as possible," the Ministry of Energy noted.
Blackout schedules
Due to the massive missile and drone attack on the energy system, emergency shutdown schedules are currently being applied throughout Ukraine. Previously published hourly shutdown schedules by regional power companies are currently not in effect. Emergency blackouts will be canceled immediately after the situation in the energy system stabilizes.
"Due to the massive missile and drone attack on the energy system, emergency shutdowns are currently being applied in most regions of Ukraine," Ukrenergo clarified.
You can find out the time of power outages at your address on the official pages of regional power companies in your region, the department indicated.
As soon as the security situation allows, rescuers and energy workers will begin eliminating the consequences of the attack to restore electricity supply in the regions, the ministry indicated.
Consumption
According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption remains high. Today, December 23, as of 6:45 AM, its level was the same as at this time on the previous working day. On December 22, the daily maximum consumption was during the day - 2.6% higher than the maximum of the previous working day. The reason is the decrease in air temperature throughout Ukraine.
"In regions where hourly shutdowns are applied, there is still a need for economical energy consumption today. Please limit the use of powerful electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, postpone energy-intensive processes to night hours - after 11:00 PM. Economical electricity consumption will contribute to a shorter duration of forced shutdowns," Ukrenergo emphasized.
