In Ukraine, there is an "urgent need" to conserve electricity due to abnormal heat; disruptions caused by Russian attacks in five regions

Due to the abnormal heat, electricity consumption is increasing in Ukraine, requiring economical use. As a result of shelling some consumers in five regions remain without electricity, and an energy worker was injured.
Due to the anomalous heat, all regions of Ukraine are in urgent need of economical electricity consumption today; because of Russian attacks, parts of five regions are without power, and an energy worker was injured, the Ministry of Energy and NPC Ukrenergo reported on Thursday, UNN writes.

"As a result of hostilities and shelling of energy facilities, some consumers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Sumy and Kharkiv regions are temporarily without electricity," the statement said.
"In Donetsk region, an energy worker was injured yesterday as a result of an enemy attack on an energy facility. The injured man was taken to hospital, where he is receiving all necessary assistance," the Ministry of Energy added.
Restoration work is ongoing wherever the security situation allows. Energy workers are working to restore power to Ukrainians' homes as soon as possible.
"The use of restrictions is not forecast today. We ask you, whenever possible, to use electricity economically throughout the day. This helps reduce the load on the system," the Ministry of Energy emphasized.
According to Ukrenergo, electricity consumption continues to rise. Today, August 6, as of 09:30, it was 1.4% higher than at the same time the previous day—in other words, on Thursday. The reason for the changes is the onset of very hot weather in most regions of Ukraine, which is prompting widespread use of air conditioners by household consumers and businesses. Yesterday, August 5, the daily consumption peak was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the previous day—Tuesday, August 4.
"Due to the anomalous heat, all regions of Ukraine (including Kyiv and Kyiv region) are in urgent need of economical energy consumption from 10:00 to 23:00 today. Please postpone energy-intensive activities (laundry, heating the boiler, using the dishwasher…) until nighttime, when the load on the power system will decrease," Ukrenergo emphasized.
