According to the investigation, the suspects acted independently of each other but shared the same handler from the FSB. They used anonymous chats for conspiracy. The suspects were identified as residents of the Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions, respectively.
The first suspect scouted territories near the capital, attempting to identify the locations of air defense systems. The second worked as a driver at a post office: he recorded information on the movement of equipment and also tried to determine the type and quantity of Defense Forces' hardware heading to the front lines.
According to the investigation, both men supported Russian armed aggression and were awaiting the occupation of Ukraine. During searches, smartphones containing evidence of their work for Russian special services were discovered and seized.
The detainees have been notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Part 3 of Art. 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information regarding the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law).
The court has ordered preventive measures in the form of detention without the right to bail. The suspects face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
