Due to the heat wave, Ukraine is experiencing high electricity consumption, requiring emergency assistance from the EU and scheduled power outages throughout the day.

Electricity consumption is consistently high due to the heat wave. Against this backdrop, Ukraine is taking emergency aid from the EU, while imports have decreased amid higher consumption in neighboring countries due to the heat wave. The blackout schedules will be in effect throughout the day today, with more blackouts starting at 14:00 - four rounds of blackouts, NPC Ukrenergo reported on Friday, UNN writes.

Consumption

"Today, on July 12, regional power distribution companies are applying consumption restrictions throughout the day. From 14:00 to 24:00, four stages of hourly outage schedules will be used to compensate for the energy shortage in the system, and at other times - three stages," Ukrenergo said.

Electricity consumption in the country, as indicated, is at the maximum level for the summer period. "The reason is an abnormal heat wave in Ukraine and Europe with a significant energy shortage in the Ukrainian power system as a result of Russian massive strikes," the company explained.

It is noted that the temperature in the country exceeds +33°C. "According to the forecast of Ukrenergo's dispatch center, today's consumption will remain high at the maximum and significantly exceeds the available capacity in the system to cover it," the company said.
