Poland makes an unexpected announcement about sending troops to Ukraine

Poland does not plan to send its troops to the territory of Ukraine. The country's Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said that decisions on the participation of Polish troops should not be made by a group of countries. This was reported by UNN with reference to an interview with Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh to the Voice of America.

"We have not yet seen any peace plan from President Trump. There are many reports in the press about this or that outcome, following the example of Finland or Germany, but these are all speculations. We rule out the possibility of Polish troops being on the territory of Ukraine. We believe that such decisions should not be made by a group of countries, NATO should play a key role," he said.

Kosiniak-Kamysh also noted that Poland can consider further steps only after the peace process is completed, which, in his opinion, is impossible without Ukraine's participation at the negotiating table.

"We will not send troops to Ukraine until the peace process is completed," he added.

At the same time, the Minister emphasized that Russia is the biggest threat to Europe since World War II.

"The threat from Russia (to Europe - ed.) is real. Ukrainians feel it every day," Kosiniak-Kamysh emphasized, adding that Poland often puts its F-16s on alert.

French President Emmanuel Macron proposed to deploy foreign troops on the territory of Ukraine before it joins NATO. Experts note that such ideas exist, but their implementation remains uncertain. 

Subsequently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk statedthat Poland is not currently considering sending its troops.
