Political scientists name the main challenges for Ukraine in 2025

The experts named Ukraine's key tasks for 2025, including scaling up military production and mobilization. They emphasize the importance of entering negotiations from a position of strength and with the support of partners.
Political scientists have identified the main challenges that Ukraine will face in 2025, including the task of defeating Russian troops and possible negotiations with Russia and Kyiv's position in them. Dmytro Levus, an international expert at the United Ukraine Analytical Center, and political scientist Oleh Lisnyi told UNN .
The main event for us is still the war, and there are a number of problems that Ukraine needs to solve. This includes scaling up military production, solving problems with mobilization, and the task of defeating Russian troops. Much will depend on a variety of factors
The expert noted that there is a lot of talk about the possible establishment of peace.
“In foreign policy, I see a tendency to talk a lot about the possible establishment of peace and negotiations, but I think it is too early for Ukraine. The main thing is to maintain the support of our partners and scale up assistance so that we can survive,” Levus said.
Political analyst and president of the Politics Analytical Center Oleh Lisnyi also spoke about the elections in Ukraine.
Holding elections will be a dangerous moment for the state, and if we look at the negative side, this is the most negative thing that can happen, apart from war. Because society is not ready for such a challenge, although it is being imposed on us
Lesnyi said that Ukraine could enter the negotiation process in 2025, but only if its partners provide a strong position.
“If our partners succeed in making Ukraine strong, then we can enter the negotiation process. This is a very important element if the negotiation process is going to be fair and about a just peace. Because Ukraine has to come in from a position of strength, and if it doesn't come in from a position of strength, if we are forced to come to the negotiations, then it will be about nothing. That is, it will be about Putin's success. We can't do that,” the political scientist said.
Lisnyi also believes that in 2025 Ukraine will be able to stop Putin on the frontline and named the conditions.
“I believe that next year, if we get what we promise from our partners, we will be able to stop Putin on the frontline and it will be about a just peace in the future. Everything that will happen next year is about establishing peace. The only question is on what basis it will be and who will benefit and who will lose from it. If we stop Putin on the frontline, it will take away his main argument, which he is now pushing to the whole world, and quite successfully: we are capturing, capturing, and why should we stop? This is a question that no one can answer for him (Putin - ed.) right now,” Lisnyi said.
The political scientist explained what he meant by the concept of a strong Ukraine.
“Putin cannot be defeated by one thing, so it is weapons, force for me is weapons. Weapons that are needed in a specific time frame and preferably without restrictions, then it is force. We also need sanctions, but only fair sanctions. Because Rosatom is always left behind. And there must also be political will in those issues that seem inconvenient. For example, the invitation to NATO, we don't have to go far to see if there was political will at the Vilnius summit, this issue would have been removed for the future. In other words, Russia would have no reason to talk about NATO, because why talk if there is already an invitation and the process has begun,” explained Lisnyi.
Therefore, in summary, the political scientist noted that partners can make Ukraine strong with weapons, sanctions, and political will, particularly with regard to NATO.
In addition, Lisnyi noted that he would like to see Ukrainian society return to consolidation, because there is a very serious challenge that will rock the situation from within.
“It has already begun to be rocked, and we need to stand up as a society,” Lisnyi said.
