Due to Russian attacks and the summer heat, Ukraine is facing electricity shortages, introducing hourly blackout schedules and receiving electricity imports from 5 countries and emergency aid from the EU.

In Ukraine, from 11:00 to 15:00 today, regional power distribution companies will apply 2 stages of hourly blackout schedules, and three stages in the rest of the day. Imports are at a record high and will come from five countries today, and emergency aid is being received from the EU, NPC Ukrenergo reported on Friday, UNN reports.

Consumption

"Today, on July 5, regional power distribution companies will apply 2 stages of hourly outage schedules from 11:00 to 15:00, and 3 stages at other times of the day," the company said.

It is reported that the shortage of power in the system, amid the consequences of the Russian attacks, is also affecting consumption growth due to the summer heat. Today, the air temperature is high in the central, southern and eastern regions. "When the power comes back on as scheduled, please do not turn on powerful appliances at the same time. If possible, limit the use of air conditioners," Ukrenergo urged.

Emergency assistance

Yesterday, on July 4, from 14:00 to 21:00, Ukraine used emergency electricity supplies from Poland and Slovakia to overcome a significant deficit in the system, reduce consumption restrictions and maintain reserves. Today, from 11:00 to 15:00, Ukraine will be receiving surplus electricity from the Polish power system on an emergency basis. This will reduce the scope of consumption restrictions during these hours of the day.
